Ask WYE – Issue 51 – How much cross training is too much?
Listener Phil is back with another good question this week about cross training Police Officers as EMTs. We tackled this topic on our old show and discuss it sometimes but this week we get into the specifics about expectations on scene and how much EMT training is too much.
While Police Officers do need tactical intervention training, like bleeding control and CAT use, there isn’t much value in them being educated in the ins and outs of vital sign gathering and interpretation, nor clouding their training with medication dosages and documentation.
On the other side of that coin is how much tactical training do EMTs and Medics really need outside forming up a Rescue Task Force? Not that much.
Have a listen and find out what our experts think on this week’s ASK WYE!
