The River Fire took a family home – How you can help
Your favorite Fireman and Motorcop duo, Justin and Jason, are back in the studio mere days after returning from their epic roadtrip and there’s no shortage of things to talk about! From disc golf in raging heat to smoke covered highways through Nevada, then on to current events including the fentanyl fainting out of San Diego, but they’ll start with what cut the trip short: Disaster.
The River Fire, one of over 120 fires currently burning in California and the west, took almost everything from our family, the Porters. Lizz (of Lizz and Jamie) is Mrs MC’s sister and Jamie is better known as the Kilted Mad Scientist and both are amazing craftsmen. Liz owns Pew Pew Lasercraft where she custom designs anything you can imagine on a giant laser. Jamie has been known to make $7000 pieces of custom furniture seemingly without breaking a sweat.
A week ago, less than 2 hours after they evacuated their home in the hills of California Gold Country, the River fire swept through reducing their dream home, which they were in almost 400 days, to rubble and dust.
This week, the guys talk about their initial reactions to this news and how they, and hopefully you, are helping this family begin to rebuild from nothing but what they could cram in a teardrop trailer, including their son, a dog and 2 cats.
Liz and Jamie will be our guests on an upcoming WYE Radio special to share their tale of the evacuation process and just what it takes to make it through a tragedy like this and, less than a week later, smile as if nothing has happened.
In the next few weeks we’ll share:
- If the Porters would do anything different next time they have to evacuate for fire
- How Justin’s FDIC presentation on MCI went and what else he learned
- If the Oscar for worst fake fentanyl video will be won by the San Diego Sheriff
- What MC did to unwind from a 23 day roadtrip with 3 kids and two dogs…and a wife.
Please, if you can, help our family, the Porters.
