Stress Management as a First Responder
You read that correctly my friends, your favorite (almost) retired MotorCop and most certainly not retired Fireman are talking about stress in the first responder universe. We all know it’s there, we all pretend to be able to handle it, but we believe that knowing when to say things aren’t OK is important.
Things aren’t OK.
Justin has shared his battles with anxiety and depression on the show in an effort to not only help others realize there isn’t anything wrong with asking for help, but to help himself heal.
This week the guys discuss an article from Police1 and address some of the warning signs in Justin’s experience. But hey, we’re not just about showing you what’s wrong, we’re about offering solutions!
We’re partnering with Yoga For First Responders and announcing a Yoga Challenge! Sing up HERE and you’ll be sent 7 videos over a 14 day period. These videos are narrated by Olivia, a previous guest and Director of YFFR. Starring in the videos are a couple of knuckleheads you may recognize. Yup, we laid a blanket out in Jason’s front yard and did yoga. Each session includes instructions so easy even Justin the Fireman could follow along. Did we do perfect? No, but that isn’t the point.
We challenge you to get more involved in a new way of dealing with the stress of giving your all for your community. This week you’ll also learn more about:
- Life experiences that trigger stress
- Common coping mechanisms that are healthy
- More common coping mechanisms that aren’t at all healthy
- When it’s OK to say you’re not OK
